BackupChain is compatible with Windows Server versions 2003 through 2025 and Windows versions XP through 11. For virtual machine backups, the operating system installed inside the VM is irrelevant. Hyper-V Server and Windows Server Core installations are supported as well.
Yes. You are free to choose the storage destination that best fits your setup. NTFS and ReFS drives or network shares are recommended. USB storage and FTP/FTPS locations are supported too, including for incremental backups of deduplicated virtual machines. In addition, you can get cloud backup plans at a reduced price when purchased together with the software.
Absolutely. BackupChain can back up virtual machines running on Hyper-V, VMware Workstation / Player, and VirtualBox. Each host running BackupChain can protect an unlimited number of its virtual machines. There is no need to install additional software or agents inside the VMs.
A separate license is needed for every BackupChain installation. Each license is perpetual and can be transferred to another computer when required. Depending on the edition you choose, technical support and software upgrades are provided for one, two, or more years. Your software will remain operational even after your software maintenance agreement expires.
Yes. The Server, Server Enterprise / for PCs, and Platinum editions include centralized management through a secure connection over your LAN or the internet. You retain full control over your network and connections. No cloud service is involved, so your management environment remains completely private.
